Need advice for my VOCABULARY weakness!

I'm immigrant. English is not my mother language.
I think one of my weaknesses is vocabulary.
The problem is that I don't know my current level and I don't know what to do with it.
I've read Xiggi's method and Silverturtle's method and I still don't know what to do.
Please feel free to give me any advice.

Buy a dictionary and also there’s two volumes (at least I think here’s only two) titled Direct Hits that seem very popular and effective on the SAT. You can find Direct Hits on Amazon.com.

I second the direct hits suggestion

^I third the Direct Hits suggestion

I’m a non-native student too. I am using Direct Hits both volumes+rocket review 323+skiming barron’s 3500.

i used the princeton reviews 500 words to know flash cards and the Sparknotes SAT book with 250 hardest SAT vocab words and I knew every word on the last SAT so it definitely worked =). i just carried the cards with me and flipped through them once a day for a month or so

I have Barron’s How to Prepare for the SAT 23rd edition. I studied all of the High-Frequency and Hot Prospects words, and I found that those were the only essential ones for all of the practice tests I’ve taken as well as the Oct. 2010 SAT and the Saturday 2010 PSAT.

By the way, I’ve typed up all the Hot Prospects/High-Frequency words that I personally didn’t know. I put them in a Word document and then right-clicked for synonyms while I was reviewing in lieu of looking up each word.

When I was getting familiar with most of the words, I put Track Changes on and deleted words that I knew. That way I could see which ones I still needed to review as well as being able to see which ones I have already memorized (to ensure that I haven’t deleted them but forgotten what they mean).
