hey guys, I am planning to transfer as a rising junior to CU(econ+math), Upenn(econ+math) and Stern (finance+econ) , and i’ve get two quick questions to ask:
will it be much harder to transfer as a rising junior than a rising sophomore, esp for an econ or finance major? I heard some schools, such as Upenn, are kinda unfriendly to rising juniors, is that right? if so, any jrecommendation for junior-transfer-friendly schools ?

if i wanna transfer as a rising junior, should i take a lot of major courses or more general classes? which one schools prefer and which one can help me transfer more credits? In other words, should i take as much as math and econ as possible, or should i take some general ones as philosophy, religion and commerce classes…

If you read the upenn website carefully, they state that applicants are strongly discouraged to reapply a year after they have not been granted admission. If you applied as a senior to penn, I would suggest that you do not apply to penn. columbia had a lot more rising sophomores than juniors, but that is generally expected at any school in the transfer process. look carefully at the requirements of each department of each school, and take classes wisely. you will save a lot of trouble once you change schools. as long as you satisfy the departmental requirements, you should be free to take other classes of your choice, but obviously a good grade in a higher level course will help more than a good grade in an introductory course.

thx, Rupert. That is really helpful! I will re-check the websites!
Btw, so do you know any Us that is more friendly to rising junior transfers? I mean, schools that have good econ/ finance programs. Any other advice?
