I have decided to prepare for the AP tests. My subjects would be physics, maths and computer science.I am in class 11th (just about to get over with my finals).I would like to know all the recommended books that'll help me in self-studying those subjects. How long would it take to prepare(I am aiming for 5 point score).
Also I have the done programming throughout my class 11th,but the language was C++.

The time you take depends on how easily you can absorb information, and how easily you can understand new concepts. I would say Barrons would be the best pick as far as choice of books are concerned. For computer science, C++ and Java are very similar, the only difference is in the syntax.

Hmmm…so have you already given them?In case,if you have then you could share the experience with me :)

Would giving it in coming may(may 2013) be quite early?

NO…Give it now itself. As a senior…Its not that cool to give in the middle of 5 competitive exams for Indian colleges in May…

I ain’t no academic stalwart!

Give the APs when you’re prepared for them. Timing wise it’s better to give it after 11th, but if you want to know EVERYTHING - give it after 12th. Though a bit of mugging up can help you know everything by 11th itself.

But again, my advice isn’t the best!! :p

I quite agree with you:)

What do you mean by saying “everything”…if you have an experience please share it my friend:D

Are the AP’s of any use if you give it after 12th? You can’t even put that on your app, college decisions will be out by then. So, umm, does it help in any way? I can’t give them because my IMO Team Selection Tests are in May. The dates of the AP tests and the IMO Camp clash. :-/

I guess they could help you post-admission…Given you have 5’s on the test you could achieve scholarships.

I think managing 5’s on AP Calculus and Statistics will be easy enough, but the schedule’s a bother. Ah well, let’s see if the next year will work.

If you don’t mind , can I ask have about your sat’s.Given them already?

Yeah, I was expecting a score in the 2200-2350 range and managed a 2240 this Jan. 800 M 720 CR 720 W (75MC but only 8E ). I’m giving P,C & M2 in May, thinking about giving a couple of more SubTests (M1, BioM, etc) in June. I’ll probably give the SAT 1 again because I’m not happy with my Writing score. I need some essay practice.

Mate!that’s an awesome score already(though no harm in giving that again).I am yet to give my SAT.How did you prepare for it.

I gave five or six full length practice tests from College Board’s prep book. That’s it, nothing else. I slacked off before the test, though, that cost me a bit on CR and W.

You take AP tests so that you earn more college credits…anytime is a good time for an AP:)

Okay. I just wish there were more dates for AP tests in India… :(

APs really don’t help in college decisions!!

In fact few colleges don’t ask for AP score reports until they’ve admitted you.

From what I’ve heard, they just help substantiate your academic ability. They cannot replace your HS marks.

Giving AP after 12th helps you get a few free credits in your freshman year!! :D

Guys, can I give AP physics c test, both on a single day.The AP India website says you can only opt for 1 test.Any suggestions.
