My daughter is taking Latin I on Florida Virtual School. She has gotten through first and second declension, first conjugation of verbs and she just did ablative of means.

Here is my questio- she has done some translations but not enough, from what I can tell, to practice it enough to internalize it.

Are there any extra materials out there that she can work on to do more translations at this early stage in her latin learning?

Thanks in advance!

The first one is an all latin text book. It’s in the form of a story it is very interesting. If she doesn’t get everything they are teaching (since it will be ALL latin there is NO english in the whole textbook) the second book is a english guide that goes with it. Use the two together and you should pick it up. And if you need more resources if you go to the book’s website they have these exercises called exercita.

Jenney’s First Year Latin. There are translations at the back of every single chapter.

Thank you both for you suggestions!

Jenneys is great! I also use Cambridge Latin.

I recommend Cambridge Latin. The books are structured in stages that progress in difficulty. There are explanations of grammar concepts, culture sections (which imo are useless), and short passages to translate. It starts off really easy, then at the end of the 4th book it can get pretty difficult, because the passages are “real” Latin, such as actual poetry from books like the Aeneid. It’s excellent preparation for AP Latin.

Lots of resources mentioned here. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction! :)

My school uses Cambridge Latin Course as well(the books and the online, but now online costs a small fee).

It’s a good supplement.

I self-studied Latin 3 last year and I will self-study Latin 4 this year using Cambridge books.
