This question might have been asked before, but I couldn't find it. Most of the colleges I am looking at recommend at least 3 years of a language. I am a junior and had two years of Latin, freshmen and sophomore year. The only reason I couldn't take Latin III this year is because it conflicted with AP Chem. Now I know you can still get into competitive schools with only two years, I know people who've done it, but how do you think I can "make up" for having only 2 years?
I'm taking into account that my school has yet to accommodate me perfectly with any schedule, so I probably won't have it next year either.

I'm pretty good in Latin so I was thinking to take the subject test, but I heard it's only offered in December and June, and both times are very inconvenient as I would need time to prep over the summer but I'd like to have scores to show on my apps.

*Also, has anyone taken Latin III online? It's nearly impossible to find, so a credible place would be nice. I really enjoyed Latin...

Can you take Latin III next year? A current senior at my school couldn’t take Latin III because of an AP Chem scheduling conflict last year, so she took it this year.

(Coincidentally, I had an AP Chem - Latin III scheduling conflict. But I chose Latin III because I’m basically in love with it.)

I had took Latin III online because I switched schools after my 10 grade year and my new school dis not offer Latin. I live in fl so I was able to take it on fl virtual school. Maybe your state has something like that

My son took 2 years of HS Latin. Actually, he got bored and deliberately failed the 3rd year by not handing in HW, but he passed the state test. He did win a National Latin award for two years (8th and 9th grades). If you won an award, that might work…

My son is taking Chinese next year as a senior.

Do you guys have intensive Latin (fits more than one year into one and would give you multiple credits)? Will they let you do summer courses/jump ahead to a class that you can fit into your schedule next year?

At my school, we have those (though not summer courses), so when I graduate next year I’ll have gone from Latin I to AP Virgil in just 3 years instead of the “standard” 7. Talk to your guidance counselor and see if there are options like that for you. If not, see about a possible online course, or maybe a local community college has a Latin class you can go to that your high school will give you credit for.
