Need advice- Is this schedule too busy?

So, my parents and I are having an ongoing argument about my schedule. They think I'm too busy and need to cut some stuff out, but I'm not too sure.

I'm a mechanical engineering major at lafayette college. I'm taking 5 courses totaling 20 semester hours, along with 3 music ensembles at 1 semester hour each, for a total of 23 semester hours. In addition, I play in 4 other ensembles (for no credit) and have a part-time job.

After all of this, my cumulative GPA is a 3.03 (but that might also be because of my stubborn refusal to look up homework answers online, talk about answers with the other mechies, or other forms of cheating). Even if I do need to make some sacrifices, I wouldn't know where to start. I can't quit ensembles because I'm the only tuba player at the college, and I'm not going to stoop to cheating anytime soon.

It’s really up to you how much you can handle. 7 ensembles is pretty crazy but I’m the same way with music and for all I know it’d just be cutting into time that you might spend otherwise sitting around on facebook or something. I’d stick with it and then decide if it’s too much for you and maybe drop some stuff if you fall below 3.0. Good luck and I hope it all works out!
