Hello all,
Currently a Freshman Finance Student at a large state school in Florida. I’m doing extremely well in my classes, but I just don’t have a passion for finance. Seeing everyone have such passion for their majors makes me a little jealous, as I’m really only doing finance since I’m a good student, and it’s a “safe” major to get secure, high payed employment. After talking to a family member about my predicament, she suggested I look at construction project management, which would combine my love for architecture, real estate, law, and business all in one. After looking into it, I really think I could find passion in that job, and it would be something I love doing. But here’s the problem, my school seems to be the one school in Florida without a construction project management program, and I would need to transfer. I really love this school, so I’m just very torn over what to do. A school in My home city has the highest rated masters program in Florida for construction management (FIU), so I’m wondering if finance would be a good undergrad degree to have when going into a construction management masters program, or if I just need to transfer now. My plan would be to work a finance job during the day for 2 years, and go to school at night to get a masters degree in construction project management. So if there’s any construction project managers out there, what undergrad degree would give me an advantage going into a masters program? Is any other degree other than an undergraduate in construction management even feasible ? Do you like your job?
Thank you,
