I'm an international student with a low income family. Which colleges are need-based for internationals?
I will be appreciate for your help!

Well there are a lot of colleges that are need-based for internationals (nearly all private colleges are.) But their generosity differs from college to college. It also depends on how competent you are. Besides the need-based aid, there are also merit scholarships available for Internationals (though most of their deadlines have passed by now.) Here are some helpful links for finding out need-based colleges/scholarships:

<a href=“Tuition-Free Colleges - Financial Aid and Scholarships - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1359504-tuition-free-colleges-p1.html
<a href=“Automatic Full Tuition / Full Ride Scholarships - Financial Aid and Scholarships - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1348012-automatic-full-tuition-full-ride-scholarships-p1.html

For the last two links you might have to sift through the colleges to find the ones which extend their scholarship/no tuition policy to internationals. Although generally public colleges do not offer need-based aid to internationals, some of them do offer scholarships.
I hope this helped.

??

That is likely NOT true. there are many, many privates that don’t give need-based aid to int’ls.

@Marstatic Thank you so much for your respond. That definitely will help me a lot.

BSunder…read each college website very carefully. Most of these schools that extend need based aid to international students are need aware for admissions for international students. This means your ability to pay will be considered when your application for admissions is considered.

There are only six colleges that are BOTH need blind for admissions and meet full need for international students.

And YES…at need aware schools, international students who have high need can be denied admission because of that high need.

@mom2collegekids Well usually private colleges in the top 50s tend to offer need-based aid to internationals. But you’re right. There are quite a few private colleges that do not offer need-based aid to internationals.
