Hi,

Im an international student applying to a few universities in the States. Cornell and Johns Hopkins were two of my choices, an ive sent JHU's app already. I looked through the forums here and noticed that quite a few people mentioned that Jhu isn't need blind. I contacted them by email, and this was their reply:

Thank you for your inquiries. The Admissions Department is separate from the Office of Student Financial Services. Whether or not you apply for financial aid does not reflect, whatsoever, on your acceptance to the University. As far as separating into two pools, the financial aid offices considers all international students for financial aid.

Similarly, Cornell replied:

Acceptance into Cornell does not depend on your financial need. The Colleges at Cornell accept students on their academic merit

So whats the deal? Who's right and whos wrong? And is it possible for me to withdraw my request for aid? ( I havent sent the fin. aid papers yet, i've just checked the box on the common app. which asks whether you will be applying for aid)
