I’m an older student who is returning to school to finish my BS. I’m already in my “dream job” so I’m not going anywhere career wise after this I just wanted to finish up my degree. I have to write a 20 page essay on my job field yet I’m at a loss. I’ve never written more than 4-5 pages before (and that was an effort). My job is fairly specialized but I’m not one to mince words and I think that’s part of my problem.
The essay requirements are broken into three sections, each with 3-4 “tasks”. I need to average around two pages each “task” to hit the 20+ page mark but have only typed a couple of pages. I’m just not good at writing and am no sure what to do. I tried breaking up the essay into parts to make it easier but I still have only managed to type a little bit in each section. I know my job but I’m having trouble putting it into words for this essay and am totally frustrated now.
Anyone have advice for me? I’m really good at my job and KNOW what is involved with it I’m just not a writer. How do make my 6-7 page job into a 20 page essay?
I can see how this topic would be difficult! Here’s what I would. Get a tablet and put one question at the top of each h page and interview myself such as what I wanted to do, when did I discover I had my dream job and how did I know that, how has my undeveloped and Chang over time, did advances in technology or advances in the field change what I was doing, what’d do now automatically now we’re challenging in my career and what was easy, etc. Provide yourself with why and how questions as a prompt . How do you decide leopard a profession and or mentor your employees. Any anecdotes. I think I could say lots if I thought about how I moved and changed from a young adult professional to what I became professional me. Seems learning me so much we do overtime that reflects my professional development without much thought as much as I followed a path to becoming me. What you are being asked is doable. Thank you for the reply. The paper isn’t so much about my job as how my job interacts with various regulatory and other requirements and how it advances my organizations strategic goals.
I like the idea of a question a page though I think that might work (it’s kind of what I did with my three topics). I just hit a bit of a block with all the “filler” because in real life I’m very short and sweet, cut the BS and get to the point. I’m thinking 10 pages not 20-30.
I also am too the point and gracious. I also do disability compliance with students transitioning from high school to college. I spend lots of time talking to parents about differences in high school services under IDEA and disability services in college. There are also different sections of 504 pertinent to each group. Would repeated compliance groups ans special concerns be a good topic?
