Need help, an insight, or any advice at all!!

Ok, so I'm a student at Schoolcraft CC in Michigan trying to transfer to UofM Ann Arbor. I just submitted my application, and I'm unable to get my HS transcripts from my homeschool because we owe a huge pass due. According to the UofM site they will not even review my application until everything is submitted(including HS TS). However, I do have my GED, and a lot of college work done (56 Cr Hrs). I've worked so hard the past two years to fulfil all of the LSA transfer courses, and I'm scared my application will never be reviewed because of something that I'm financially incapable of fixing. What should I do?!?

You should email your admissions counselor. They should know better than any of us. The email addresses are available at [The Admissions Team | University of Michigan Office of Admissions](http://www.admissions.umich.edu/drupal/admissions-team-0)

Parkerm, if you can’t pay the school you’re at, how were you planning to pay UMich? You may need to take a gap year, get a job, and clean up that debt. I don’t think anyone is going to be willing to review a transfer candidate who would not be legally able to transfer (because until you pay that college bill, those credits are NOT going to transfer!)

And in what way is this out of your capability to fix? You need to work, save, pay. It might be hard to do but simple in terms of “what” to do.

Whatever amount of debt you could have possibly racked up at a Michigan CC will pale by comparison to the cost of a single course at UMich. You simply cannot afford to proceed until your financial affairs are in order, and by now, you’re old enough to face this obstacle and overcome it in a short period of time!

So just carry on, pay and finish your associates, and then apply for transfer, working to save up some money in the interim between when you apply to transfer and when you start. Life is a marathon, not a sprint. You’ll get there!

Hey, thanks for the replies. I’m going to contact my admission counselor once I send in my College transcripts, and ask if they will consider reviewing my application “as is”.

P.S. My college is all paid up for because of grants. It’s my old high school, it was a homeschool program, and the past due balance is outrageous.
