Hello,
Thank you for clicking on their discussion. I am a senior in high school and was admitted into both sjsu and ucsc. My major at the moment is economics for both schools but i plan on changing my major (for sjsu, change to business admin and for ucsc change to business management economics). I am torn between both colleges. Any help at all would be much appreciated. I am looking for comments about social life, which would be a better school for my intended major, housing, area, etc., anything to help me make a decision. Financial aid is not a problem for me so that is not one of the aspects I am considering i’m making a decision (both sjsu and ucsc will cost me about the same amount). Thank you very much.
Disclaimer… I cant really answer any of your questions in depth but if you havent already, id look into how difficult it is at each uni to change into the major you wanna be in. I know that business can be competitive AF so yeah. Also, congrats
Congrats!
They are both good schools,
You will only be spend about 10% of your time in the classroom and, they are such different campuses and learning environments, you must have a preference. Do you want to go to college in the forest, near the ocean, or in a major city? Follow that inner voice.
Hi, @sen18r2022 my DD was accepted for both SJSU and UCSC, and we visited both of them couple weeks ago. SJSU is much smaller, more like a block in a city, and give the community college feel. Convenient to local places and companies and it’s #1 recruited university because companies need to give back to local community. My DD wasn’t impressed about the campus environment, it’s more like the commuter school. When she stepped into UCSC, she immediately fall in love with the campus, not to mention it’s still pretty close to Silicon Valley, but the natural environment, the small college community, the prestige of research opportunities in an UC, the view, the downtown, boardwalk, etc. it’s like studying while taking vacation. Because she is in the computer science program, one mom told her that at least students can unwind from school stress when they step or look outside the classroom. If you intend to work during school and also immediately after college, SJSU business administration is more practical than UC Business Economic and has more local job opportunities that you might be easy to handle both at the same time. I hoped that my DD will choose SJSU but she loves UCSC (larger campus), however her sister (my DD’20) like small campus and is happy with SJSU and added to her college list!
UCSC is more relaxing and layback feel and most students live on campus. SJSU is commuter school and easy access to out of campus housing. Both campus are very diverse. But attending UC means you are considered as top 9-15% of high school students in ten California, and many companies know that.
