I getting admitted to both schools by transferring next semester but I dont know where I want to go.

I got in to UC Davis with major in Managerial Economics, which is the closest major they have to Business Admin.

And I got in to SJSU with a major in Management Information Systems.

School wise, I would go to UC Davis by far and being more prestigious school.
Major and future wise, I think SJSU would be better (I am not sure though).

I dont think a major in business is that useful unless it was accounting or finance, which isn't my major. So should I go to SJSU? Is it a respectable school?

I’d say UC Davis because its definitely more prestigious, and lets face it it’s a UC. It is much more expensive than a CSU, but if you can afford it I’d choose UCD. SJSU is a great school, but to me it comes off as a party school. I have friends that go to both schools and both enjoy the overall college experience. When did you get into SJSU? I’m still waiting for my admission notification.

You should go to UC Davis. It is in the upper half of the UC rankings. I work in the CFO organization of a major corporation in the SF Bay Area. There are a lot more UC Davis business/management econ graduates than there are San Jose St. Univ. business grads. Also, overall as a colllege, UC Davis is a lot more elite than SJSU.

Heard from a reputable Silicon Valley firm that they tend to hire SJSU grads at a very high rate, versus some grads from the more selective schools. A sense of entitlement may often accompany new hires from the more selective schools. Of course, this assumes all other things being equal. Sample size of 1…I’m sure others will find the opposite. Just don’t rule out the state school based on perceived status alone. (And no, I have no ties to SJSU or any UC. Actually have a grad from one of the schools that may have entitlement issues ).

One of my DD’s friends attended SJSU and was hired by a Silicon Valley company, as was her brother.
Dd works at a major defense contractor and she is in a junior management track. She’s been asked to train the UC “entitled” new hires; she says the arrogance is so thick that she hopes their haughtiness will take them to another company.
DH has a set of 3 junior engineers that are so in love with themselves that they need to be peeled off of the ceiling. One is from Stanford, one from Caltech and one from MIT. They treat DH, as a senior engineer, as though they don’t need any training or direction because they know it all. No appropriate work behavior at all; no knowledge of paying dues. They don’t know that DH is also a Stanford grad and will probably do their performance reviews. His company is now recruiting at the Cal states because they don’t like what they’re getting from the “more elite” schools.
