So i'm trying to decide which highschool in my area to attend next year. The problem im having is deciding between one that has a great band( friends are going here), one magnet school with a STEM program, and one with an IB program that prefers you start there in freshman year instead of junior. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'll also post links to the schools respective websites.

I will admit I did not look at the websites, but…

There are a few things to consider. The first of which is can you realistically get into all three. I have no idea if these schools accept all students, but my guess is that they don’t (magnet programs tend to not end up not having enough space for all interested students). I know at my school 1 in 6 students get in, so the odds aren’t exactly great… If this is the case it would be in your best interest to apply to all of them and see where you get in, if this is not the case/you can attend any of them ignore what I just said. The next thing is what do you want to do with your life. If you want to go into international relations for example you would be better off choosing the IB school then the STEM school. Personally I attend a magnet school that does not relate to what I want to do in the future, it is a great school, but I will be at a disadvantage in college compared to those who had more preparation in high school.

If the only reasons you want to attend the first school is because of a great band and friends I would not pick it (unless of course you want to pursue something band/music related). It seems like a frivolous choice when from my understanding you have two academically stronger programs to look at.

Finally pick some where that you are happy, high school is four years, you want to enjoy that time not be miserable.

I didn’t look at the pages, either LOLOL.

I say go with what makes you happy. If you like playing music a lot, then go to that first school. If you really want to focus on STEM subjects, go to that school.

In my opinion, though, I would actually go to the first school. I personally chose to stay at a school in a less-privileged area after I moved to a district where the high school is well-known because I knew I’d enjoy it more. I find that if you enjoy your high school career, you’ll be able to write about it better.

Not to say that you won’t enjoy the other schools; I’m sure they’re all excellent and your experience is what you make of it. Ultimately, it’s your decision.

I wouldn’t sweat about the high school. Like I said, it’s what you make of your experience in high school that will make you a better candidate to colleges. However, I’m not an admissions officer or anything, so this is all my speculation.
