Need Help Convincing My Parents About College (we've all been there)

<p>My parents want me to go to University of Illinois (my state school) because it is cheap & they're worried I won't get into any other schools. I hated the campus & the atmosphere & really don't want to go. Will someone chance me for my top schools (NYU, Boston University, Georgetown, George Washington, McGill) so I can convince my parents U of I isn't the only option?</p>

<p>I'm a junior, by the way, & I'd like to go into Political Science. </p>

<p>3.9 UW GPA/4.33 W GPA
33 ACT with writing
AP Credits:
Freshman year: AP World (5)
Sophomore year: AP Gov (5), AP Euro (5)
Junior year: taking APUSH, AP Lang, AP Psych
Senior year: taking AP Lit, AP Art History, AP Macro, AP Micro, AP Bio, AP Calculus AB
Awards:
AP Scholar Award
I've been on Distinguished Honor roll every semester
Varsity award track & cross country
ECs:
Cross country (3 years so far)
Track (2 years)
Vice-president of SEARCH club (ec exploring different career paths & listening to different speakers
Peer tutor volunteer
Member of National Honors Society</p>

<p>I was also injured after my freshman year & needed surgery...don't know what that counts for but recovery was long & hard.</p>

<p>Thanks again for the help :) (and no offense against people at/who went to U of I. . .it's a great school. . .just too close to home!)</p>

George Washington - you’re in!
McGill - not sure, probably a reach </p>

<p>I think you’re in at George Wash at least. Don’t count on Georgetown, it’s a crap shoot.</p>

George Washington - Easy Acceptance
McGill - Err… never heard of this one, sorry :P</p>

<p>You’re clearly a minority status, so I suppose that can come in handy. If all else fails, which it won’t, U of I is still a good school, but don’t worry about that, you’ll make at least one of the other ones.</p>

No clue on McGill…sorry.</p>

<p>I say you’re almost definitely in at GWU and BU, and likely in at NYU.</p>
