My brother goes to U of O and here's what he said

academics: solid, it's a well rounded school
work load: more than schools on the semester system and it's pretty fast paced, but it's manageable
food: pretty good
dorms: mediocre other than carson, llc, barnhart/riley
boys/girls: friendly, very active, laid back
club scene/night life: house parties/frat parties if you are 18-20, bars if you are 21+
greek scene: fun, but not the size of USC or Udub. Not mandatory if you want to have fun
sports: huge, big part of campus life especially football and basketball
city: smallish college town, pretty good sized for the state of oregon
students in general: friendly, easy going, social
professors: friendly, accessible, knowledge
campus: gorgeous, easy to navigate

and some others...
favorite thing about it: the campus, the people, the classes, the sports
biggest downfall: the dorms, some people don't like the rain - personally, it doesn't bother me
stereotypical student: works hard, loves sports, is very active, is from either Portland or somewhere in California
overall experience: other than UCLA or Texas, there isn't another school that I'd rather be at

academics: The business school is one of the top in the nation! Other popular majors include Education, Law, and Architecture.

work load: It definitely depends on your major! I know Arch. majors who spend all their time in studio working on class projects, etc. Most lecture type classes require a fairly decent attendance and reading to pass with an acceptable grade. Lectures also have discussion sections that meet once a week that accompany 20-25 people per class which really help students!

food: As far as dorm food, the selection is great and very health-conscious. Some stay open as late as 2AM and most open around 8 or 9 AM.

dorms: It's definitely quite the mix. Some dorms have private bathrooms and walk in closets while others are small although they are on campus. Most have their own sinks in-room and new furniture.

boys/girls: active, friendly, generally chill people. there are definitely the "hippies" but there aren't that many and they usually stick with each other.

club scene/night life: a lot of dorm parties, R.A.s are generally lax about parties. Other than that there are always fraternities throwing parties and house parties aren't hard to find. Most everyone drinks and a good majority of people smoke weed, but it is Eugene after all. There are three or four bars literally right next to campus, I know a lot of people with fakes that can get in without problem if that is your scene. Also, Oregon State is only about a 45 minute drive so students can easily go to parties up there if they wish to do so.

greek scene: very philanthropic. most greeks are friends with other greeks so it kind of feels like a smaller community which is nice on such a large campus. the houses are suppose to be dry but most fraternities drink in their houses anyway, but all have liveout houses where they host parties and functions.

sports: sports are HUGE! the games are some of the best to go to and the students are known for their spirit. If you aren't a sports fanatic you will be after you come here! Autzen stadium holds the record for the loudest crowd and Mac Court is a notoriously hard basketball court to play on - the crowd gets so loud that the building actually shakes!
Also, fitness is a priority for a good majority of students and the rec center is VERY nice and always a popular place to go during your downtime. there are about 16 tennis courts, three tracks (one indoors and several running trails), and four fields made of this really cool foam type material that i can't think of! plus all the weight rooms, aerobic rooms, etc INside the rec.

city: campus is located downtown so there are lots of little shops and boutiques around and nearby campus. the city itself is nothing extraordinary, basically like any other! Mountains are only an hour or two away so lots of students drive to Mt. Hood, Hoodoo, and Bachelor to ski throughout the year.

students in general: most students maintain a really chill, friendly vibe. you can strike up a conversation with pretty much anyone!

professors: I was definitely surprised by how eager the profs. are to get to know and help their students on an individual basis. they really are here for their students rather than their research. classes have small discussion sections with about 20 students in them too which makes it easy for you to get to know your professor.

campus: large and very beautiful. lots of brick architecture and the new buildings are amazing! there are also lots of huge grassy areas for students and around the dorms. when the weather is warm, these areas are covered with students laying out, playing sports, studying, you name it!

and some others...
favorite thing about it: The sports and a great sense of community.

biggest downfall: It rains literally all month in January, and off and on until April or so.

stereotypical student: NOT A HIPPIE! The stereotypical student loves sports, parties a lot, but is able to balance their workload as well. A good majority reign from the Portland area and there are lots from California.

overall experience: U of O is definitely a big sports school, not going to lie. It gets millions of dollars from the Nike/Phil Knight corporation - people joke that we are slowly being privatized into becoming the "Nike University" - so everything is extremely high tech (think fingerprint coded lockers and flat-screens in locker rooms). School spirit is constant year-round and the students are generally friendly and outgoing. Of course, there are lots of parties and social events but it isn't hard to balance these with school.
