Need help deciding major

I know 100% I want to be an accounting major. The question is, should I double major Accounting/Finance? Also, I am very interested in French as a minor.

So, should I:

-Double major Accounting/Finance and minor in French,

OR,

-Major in Accounting and minor in French,

OR

-Major in Accounting

Which looks best on a resume or job application? Thank you guys very much in advance!

You don’t need to decide now. Make sure that you can test/AP out of F200 which has a terrible grade distribution.

By far most accounting majors at Kelley also major in finance. I have a list of students who interviewed oncampus last Fall for audit or tax positions with a regional accounting firm’s Indianapolis office and the breakdown of majors was this:

MBA or MSA graduate students: 14
Accounting and Finance undergrad: 24
Accounting only undergrad: 6

It only takes two more finance classes (six credits) to add the finance major to the requirements for the accounting major. If you are going into audit, tax, or corporate accounting, it is good to take corporate finance classes (F307; F402; and [F408, if offered, or G345, if F408 is not offered]) along with the required F303 and F305. Having taken these finance classes will also help make the BEC portion of the CPA exam relatively easy.

As far as getting a job, the French minor would be pretty irrelevant. And if you are not getting A’s and A-'s in French, the minor will probably hurt your gpa, and a high gpa is hugely important for getting oncampus interviews in the current economic climate, which may or may not improve the next few years.
