Need help deciding what to major in!!

After this semester ends I
will have completed 2 years at my local community college but I have yet to decide what I want to major in:( Initially my plan was to
major in business admin so I’ve been taking a lot of business classes. I don’t particularly enjoy school and I’m not interested in any of the classes that I am taking. However I do believe that school is the right route for me. Forgive me for rambling on but I just want to provide some insight into what my interests are and what I enjoy doing. I’ve thought about majoring in writing because it’s something that I like to do, and so far I’ve enjoyed all of the English classes that I’ve taken in college. I also really enjoy nutrition and working out (I’m also vegan). I would LOVE to travel the world and help people out in anyway possible. I enjoy helping others and teaching too. As I already said, I don’t really like school at all and none of the classes that I’m taking interest me. If I can choose a major that interests me, I think I will enjoy school much more. I’m at the point in my college career where I’ve completed 2 years at a cc and I need to transfer to a 4 year university soon. If anybody has any suggestions please let me know! I’m all ears!

I was in the same boat as you. I went to a CC and got my associates in business administration and I was going to focus on either Marketing or Management info. systems. I tend to get bored with things after awhile and I like to be engaged with new material so I figured those two were my best fits. I actually re-enrolled at the same CC this past January to take an extra math course and I also enrolled in Anthropology. I ended finding my passion and I’ve switched my major from Business to Anthropology. It’s okay if you don’t know, but don’t waste time on something that you don’t love doing. With that being said, for your writing have you looked into journalism or possibly becoming an educator yourself? and if you like helping others, nursing is a great way to reach out or going through with business and starting a non-profit. Hope that helps ya!

What about something like journalism or even international business or communication. Some great advice I have gotten from multiple professionals is; find someone who is doing exactly what you dream of doing and see what path they took to get there, where they went to school what they majored in. Teaching is great, but you would have to most likely go on to get a masters or further education and the moneys not that great (if that is a factor for you). Business is a lot of networking and making connections I wouldn’t say it matters so much about how you do in school but the people you met as that major. I would also go through the majors and thoroughly read through the given descriptions from all schools you are applying to. I would then narrow down the majors you like and read through each specific universities course catalog to see if they have classes you would enjoy. Departments can vastly differ school to school. Wish you luck!!

Would you consider becoming a nutritionist? When my husband was diagnosed with diabetes, he worked with a nutritionist to understand the necessary changes to his diet.

If you enjoy teaching, ESOL is very popular nowadays. I know people who have traveled to other countries to teach people the English language. It’s also very popular in the US with the influx of immigrants. Maybe have a degree in english since you enjoyed those classes and then receive a certificate in ESOL and you can teach
Hope this helps
