need help deciding!

Im so sorry if this is the wrong section.

Im a junior in h.s with a 3.2 gpa and I need help seeking a major that will get me a decent paying job. I looked into buisness and engineering but im very weak in math and get mostly b's and c's in science. Im very good at history (honors with a 95) and very interested in art (over 5 classes in various art classes). English im ok with a B.

Is there a major out there that I would enjoy and get a job easily with my current status? Also what would be some schools in new york that offer these majors?

Thanks for your time!

There are many jobs you can get. One that comes to mind is journalism. I believe it is a good career for English majors. You may also want to look into teaching. There are many schools that offer degrees in teaching, and I bet New York has some.

Good luck!

If you enjoy History and English and can hold up a debate, try considering law school.

^Good idea

Consider law school, but remember that many people that go into it have to take thousands in loans.

Sorry for the late reply guys. Thank you for the suggestions but Im thinking about public relations, can someone tell me what kind of courses are good for this major and also if it will get me any where? Thanks!

How about something like marketing? Its not very mathemathical. Basic math plus some statistics. You get to be creative. Not all business degree’s require abstract math. I’d say that’s more of a finance/economics thing. Otherwise, it’s mainly the basic operations, and like I said statistics, which isn’t too complicated.

If you are interested in public relations, you might want to consider a major in communications.

Hmm well id do marketing but Im really lacking in prep. Also, its sad to say but im a level behind in math than the rest of my grade so im a junior in geometry and as a senior ill be taking algebra 2. No stat classes taken.

Also, what is a good minor to do with public relations if I go to that path?

Also, I only have 2 credits in foreign language and its 1 in chinese and 1 in spanish.

Get a major or minor in Communications for public relations/ or psychology (helps you analyze people, really important, I mean look at it the same message conveyed in different words can produce different results, and if you know the psychology of your audience, you can manipulate them)… It sounds really bad, but that’s how PR people survives in their industry, making things sounds nice by knowing how people think

it really depends on the university that you go to really… some universities doesn’t provide enough support for some majors, and they are really bad that it’s not worth going to college.
