I just bought a website today from godaddy.com for my tutoring service . but when I try to access it, the page says that I have not uploaded my website.

SO I go to the link they give me. But it tells me how to upload individual files, not the actualy website

so I'm confused. does anyone have any suggestions?

also, I've never done a website before (I've only done some programming in Java). I want to have a lot of information on my website as well as a forum. If anyone could offer any tips or suggestions, that'd be great

also, should I buy the private domain stuff? Primarily, people in my town will access it, but i dont see a need for buying a private domain. but then again, I dont know much about websites

If you have to upload individual files, it means you'll need to upload individual HTML, image, and possibly CSS files. If you haven't made any websites yet with HTML, check if there's some kind of website builder on godaddy just to get your websites up and running temporarily. I'm not familiar with that website's interface, so I can't really help beyond that. ):

With forums you have a lot of options, including hosting them right on your domain, but since you're just starting up, an easier way out would be through invisionfree or an individual message-board format, depending on what size you're planning for.

Just buying a domain won't get your site up. You have to buy hosting somewhere else. Your host will then probably give you DNS addresses, which you can set in your domain account. The DNS will point your domain to the host.

The default homepage is automatically [whateveryourdomainnameis].com/index.html. Just name whichever page you want to be your homepage "index.html".
