Solid college essay and recommendations.

I'm looking to study Psych or Journalism.

My reaches/dream schools include Yale, Columbia, and UPenn, but I understand these are some VERY HIGH reaches.

Anyway, I'm thinking about applying to Vassar, Williams, or U of Washington as "match" schools.

What do you guys think my chances are of getting in? ,and
What are some other schools I'd have a good chance of getting into if I applied (Preferably with good financial aide)?

PLEASE AND THANKS!

I dont think UW and Vassar are not of the same caliber (huge differences in acceptance rates), so I dont think both are matches for you. I think Vassar would be a low reach with your current ACT scores, but your extracurriculars look great. Are in state or out of state for UW?

Williams in one of the most selective schools in the country, the other two are also very selective. I would call all three reaches

Certainly Williams is a reach (it is for most everyone, very selective). U of Washington is probably a match, Vassar would be as well if you got your ACT composite up by 2 points as you hope to.

Did you mean Univ of Washington or Washington U?

University of Washington- out of state- has a good psych program. I want to apply to some liberal arts schools because it’s close to the education I received at a charter school, which is where Vassar and Williams come in. Based on my EC’s and my grades, how important/likely is it that I raise my ACT score? And what school’s would you all suggest?

Vassar and Williams are great, but one should not treat any school with an acceptance rate below 30% as a match, they are reach schools. Therefore, I believe you have too many reaches and not enough safeties.

Also, if you are interested in journalism then in addition to Columbia, schools such as, Northwestern, USC, NYU, UC Berkley, UNC should be on your list. In addition, Syracuse, Ohio U, U of Maryland, Univ of Florida and Indiana U. have good journalism programs.

What is your home state?

UGA has an excellent Journalism program among state universities
