Hello,
I am looking for some help for a friend who is trying to get a nomination. I don’t really know anything about the application process, but my friend has an interview this weekend, and I would really like to help him in any way I can. Personally, I have been highly competitive in several competitions involving public speaking and interviews, so I know I can help him with his overall presence, but I have no idea how to get him prepared for this.

Can anyone give me any information or let me know what I should be focusing on to help him get what I know he deserves?

Asking questions like "why do you want to go to USAFA?" "What sets you apart from all the other highly qualified applicants?" "What do you want to do after graduation?--why?...what makes you think you would be good at that?" "Why do you want to be a military officer?" "What experience do you have with the military?...family, personal, etc" "What are your strengths?...weaknesses?" "what is the biggest challenge you have overcome in the past 4 years, and how did it help you grow?"

...and as a curve ball, you can throw in unexpected questions like "What was the best book you've read in the past year, and why?"

In prepping for the interview, you should have them practice their body language skills (looking confident/assertive), answering relevant questions about a serivice academy and their motivation, and answering tough questions (explaining one's weaknesses and how to overcome them is always a good one).

My son was also asked his opinion about current events, including his views on the war in iraq. Overall, ramius has covered the most likely questions.
