Need Help Possible Transfer!!

Hello College Confidential I am a second semester Freshman at the University of Connecticut and i am looking to transfer elsewhere on the east coast. I am really unhappy here and especially hate the weather and the location of the campus and lack of activities to do. I am looking to transfer up to a higher ranking school hopefully closer to a city.

My Stats:
High school GPA: 3.5uw and 3.7w took mostly honors and 4 Ap classes

College GPA first semster: 3.6 and it should be up to at least a 3.7 overall at the end of this semester(15 credits both semesters)

Price range: up to 30 grand give or take 2 thousand

SAT scores: 1800 620 CR 580 m 600 W

Ecs: Saxophone in the school band, community service hours, law society, international relations and red cross club( more things in hs)

URM Male

residency: New Jersey

Studying Political Science/International Relations
Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you in advance!

American University in DC may offer you good FA, or not…don’t know how they treat transfers, but you won’t know if you don’t try. Have you considered UMass Amherst? I’m not thinking about “ranking” as much as location and affordability. Schools in Boston like Northeastern may come through, but start out well over 30,000. UConn is a good school, and your stats are so-so; maybe another year at UConn getting your GPA up, etc, would help your transfer to a better school, and then you’d only be looking at 2 years worth of the expense for something that will probably cost more as well…
