Alright so I got accepted to NYU Stern and UT Mccombs and I have no idea which one to choose. I am a Texas resident so tuition is relatively cheap for UT and I will graduate debt free whereas I received no aid from NYU and will have to take out around $150k in loans over the course of the four years at NYU. I eventually want to get into IB in NYC and i dont know if Stern would be worth it or if I take my chances at UT. What do you guys think?
$150K in loans? You can’t take out that much (your parents would have to). Don’t do it.
That would be a whole lot of debt to begin your post-grad life with, or to saddle your folks with.
On the other hand, few schools are better at placing young grads into NYC IB jobs than Stern.
Have you checked to see whether there are IB jobs in Dallas, Houston, etc. – cities relatively close to Austin? Have you checked to see if IB firms recruit at McCombs?
Yea I’m sorta leaning towards UT because I do not want to be weighed down by debt and they still have a phenomenal business school where some top firms do recruit.
If you really need help with that decision, forget about a career in business.
@RedMist I thought those who got accepted to NYU this early is because of early decision. How are you able to choose then?
As a future business major you should be able to calculate your monthly loan payment at say 7%. Come back then and tell us which school is the better choice.
The first business decision you should make is how you are managing your money. No brainer. Its better to go with your state school.
