Need Help with Housing

So I have yet to accept housing. I need some advice from current UIUC students as to which dorm would fit me best.

Qualifications
-I'm Business Major
-Don't want a crazy party dorm like 6pack
-Nice room, food
-Social place

Also a few other questions
-What choices are probably left due to me applying this late?
-Is the PAR/FAR really that far away from everything?
-Can someone give me a brief description of each dorm like if ISR is the international dorm?

Anything help is appreciated. I need help ASAP.

I’m not a current UIUC student, but I am a future-Business major as well and here’s what I managed to gather from various CC postings/dorm reviews. Forgive me if I get some stuff wrong.

PAR, FAR, and I think ISR have new furniture that is loftable and steel-wood construction

6-pack
-As you said, known to be more of the party dorms. Popular dorms (most people I know going to UIUC are heading there)
-Snyder hall may still be open - substance free… less partying?
-All female and all male buildings available
-Currently undergoing construction

ISR (probably gone by now. And I don’t think it is the international dorm…)
-Mainly engineers
-Air conditioned
-A bit less social than dorms like the 6-pack

Busey Evans, LAR
-All female. I don’t know if you’re male or female. Busey Evans probably gone by now. LAR may still be an option. LAR has a vegetarian dining hall and is next to Allen.
-Busey Evans is Air Conditioned.

Allen
-More artsy dorm?
-Said to have one of the best dining halls
-Has Unit One LLC

PAR (Applied to GC LLC here)
-Like FAR is known is house more freshmen and also known to be more diverse (Houses Intersections LLC). PAR in particular may have more internationals due to the Global Crossroads LLC.
-New dining halls from 2008

FAR
-Air conditioned
-More diverse. Has a southern style specialty restaurant.
-I’ve heard that the normal dining hall is pretty bad though

You will probably be dropped into PAR/FAR or Temp Housing if you’re applying at this time. PAR/FAR may be further from the main quad than some of the dorms but it shouldn’t be too bad. A lot of freshmen will be living there so it should be a nice chance to meet new people. The bus starts at the stop right in front of the dorms and runs every 5 minutes or so. People said it’s a 15-20 minute walk to the main quad (give or take). You can also ride your bike along the dedicated bike paths.

sigh…how i miss the six pack

6 pack isnt that bad really, i dont live there, but i hang out there a lot. if you can get into lundgren or barton (guy and girls only, respectively) those would be the best, they are pretty much across the street from the business buildings, and are very quiet (i lived in one of them for a semester). even if you got into regular six pack dorms, it still isnt bad. i stay there past midnight many days a week and nothing really happens (its not a college movie scene if thats what you have in mind)

after this, allen would be the next closest thing. sherman hall is also an option if you are over 20, but the rooms are tiny

Thanks a lot for ur thoughts. I did housing. But now im concerned I will get temporary housing. Is there a good chance I will get it applying this late? and Is it really that bad? Do I have a roommate? What’s the difference than regular housing?

Temp housing usually means lounges in dorms turned into temporary rooms (not awful, not great, with at least one roommate), although it can sometimes mean getting something in graduate housing (just as good as or better than dorms). And yes, applying this late means a high risk of temp housing although possible there might still be some openings in FAR or PAR.
