Need help with SUNY options

I am currently finishing my Associate's at Westchester Community College. My GPA isn't the best as of now (a 2.8 as of this writing) but I have finished all my required courses this past semester, taking some electives this semester to boost my GPA then I'm ready to move on.

I need to look at SUNY schools just because I don't want to lose any of my credits. I am really having a huge problem choosing a SUNY school. I am a communications major with a big interest in film and production. What schools really have the best media programs?

I applied to SUNY Purchase last year, actually got accepted but missed the deadline for my first payment and had to go back to Westchester CC, no clue if that would effect my chances with applying there again. As picky as it is to say, I don't like upstate New York [too rural, far-out and cold for me to go up there 8 months out of the year] so I want a school closer to Manhattan or at least accessible to Manhattan.

With all this criteria in mind, what definitely good SUNY schools should I look into/do I have a chance of getting easy admission into?

IF money is an issue, then you have to draw a circle around where you live that is a commutable distance and apply to the schools within that circle. Purchase is a good choice, and you should give it another go. Also look at the CUNYs. There is a surcharge for not livng in NYC, but the price is still better than most private options.

Just to point out - I do live in Westchester. So Purchase is the most accessible for me.

On the subject of CUNY’s, I had applied to Hunter last year as well but never got an answer because they never received my transcript from a private college I went to for a year even though I sent requested the transcript from them multiple times. So I don’t know if I want to try the CUNY route again.

So your going to not apply to a school because another college didn’t provide a transcript? Who is that hurting but yourself?

They wouldn’t consider the application finished unless that transcript came in. I found it very odd myself.
