Hi! I am a junior in high school and have been trying to start my common app essay as the 2018-2019 prompts were release but I don’t know what to write about 
Any advice for picking a prompt and how to go about writing the essay?

Try this for inspiration… for the next week or two; every time you hear something funny or that makes you smiles, something that makes you pause and think “hmmm” or “gee that is interesting”, write it down (make a note in your cell). At the end of two weeks review the list, throw out the ones that you don’t find interesting at second look. Now take a few of those ideas and write an an opening sentence and a closing sentence for them. Sit on it for a few days, then go back and review your topics again and try filling in a few sentences that relate that idea to you personally - a memory, a future goal or a current connection. Now you have a frame work, build from there. Good Luck!
