Need info on Gates Millenium Scholarship

<p>hi! I am a hispanic sophomore that goes to a private Catholic school. I read on some information on the GMS. Will i still be able to apply for the scholarship senior year even though i go to private school?
How do they select the winners of the scholarships? So far i have academic excellence(GPA:3.7, 58 out of 446) and some leadership skills( many clubs, running for vice president or secretary). I just need to work on the community service. What else should i do to increase my chances of winning?</p>

<p>yep...there are a bunch of requirements. Basically, every year they choose 1000 students to receive the scholarship. There is no formula for selecting scholars. I would have to say that we all have high school GPAs above 3.3, are leaders and community servants.
