Hello. I'm new here but, I've recently started lurking through these helpful forums to prepare me for the future. I have been taking an AP English Language and Composition course at my school and feel that I'll probably fail the exam. I passed my first semester with an A but I just don't feel prepared for the exam. At school all we do is try to analyze texts, read passages, barely beginning to do multiple choice preparation, and probably have done 4 essays.......I NEED MAJOR HELP!

What recommended books should i read, prep books that i should look over, vocabulary terms, ways to improve my essays, ways to improve my vocabulary, ways to increase my productivity in timed situations (Im horrible at timed exams), ways to majorly improve my English grammar (I'm awful at grammar constantly making run on sentences and just being too wordy), ANY HELP, PLEASE !!! :(

Honestly, I didn’t “prepare” much for the AP Lang exam at all.

There’s never going to be a point where you go “Oh i know i’m ready now!”

Read for pleasure. I personally read Op-Ed’s and political articles. That’s where I’m learning diction/syntax purpose audience.

Please tell me your class has at least gone over the rhetorical framework?

Read the essays that get 6-7’s and you’ll begin to notice sound patterns of simplistic, yet powerful diction including a simple clearly stated thesis.

90% of the MC is ability to read rather than specific obscure lit terms.

The FRQ’s can’t really be prepared for and your arguments for this can be completely BS and simplistic (especially helpful with obscure or unfamiliar arguments)

Yeah I think we have gone over the Rhetoric Framework but I’m not sure. Is it that SOAPSTONE thing? I don’t mind the FRQ that was easy to do in the practice essays we did .

Any good books to read to improve English skills?
