Need more safety/match schools!!!

Hey everyone. I'll give you the abridged version of my profile:

Extracurriculars: Baseball (4yrs; team captain); Flag Football (2yrs; co-captain); Barbershop Quartet (3yrs; student director and lead singer)

Community Service: ESL Tutor, D.A.R.E. Role Model, Music Clinics, etc. TOTAL: 340hrs

Work Experience: Front Desk Manager: 3yrs (year-round); 8hrs/week

SAT: (I CAN’T take standardized test well…)
SAT I: 560CR 600M 580W = 1740 / SAT II: 590BIO 590MATHII

Other: I love music! I’m over involved with my high school choir program: Section Leader since freshman year; 3yrs concert choir; 3yrs chamber choir; 2yrs vocal wkshp; 2yrs barbershop; student director of beginning men’s choir this year.

Alright, I've applied to the UC system and feel good about my reach/match/safety schools in the system. I've also offered a music scholarship to SFSU, which has a very prestigious music credential program.

I'm looking for additional options. I love the UC's and SFSU, but I'm looking for other places I would be a match/safety for. No location restrictions, etc. Thanks!

Well, it's impossible for anyone to really offer suggestions without knowing more about you and what you are looking for in a school --- size, need for financial aid, LAC or university, type of student body, and so on.

If music is your interest, and you are open to smaller schools, you might check out the University of Redlands and the University of the Pacific, both of which have excellent music programs. They would both be safe bet schools for you. In Wisconsin, check out Lawrence U, which has a wonderful music conservatory. Your SATs are low for them, but they make submitting them optional. Your GPA would probably make Lawrence a good match. In fact, if I were you, I'd look at some other SAT optional schools as well --- try www.fairtest.org for a list.

In terms of larger schools, Indiana U or Syracuse U might be potential matches.

However, if you tell us more about what you're looking for, I'm sure folks will have other suggestions as well.

Maybe St Olaf?

If you love music and want to get involved in it right away and want a good overall education plus a change of scenery from No Cal, I second Lawrence. My son is there now and spends time in the Bay Area as well and loves the Bay Area. But he is getting a complete college experience. Even with all the snow, he still is in heaven. He is a music person + other things, like radio show, politics, whatever.

The "no location restrictions, etc." that I stated in my original post meant that I'm open to any kind of school. Size: big or small. Financial aid: would be nice, but I'll make something work either way. LAC or University: Both. Student body: I'd prefer a social environment over a study study study environment. Thanks for the help.

Oberlin might be a bit of a reach, but give it a try.
