If you're looking at BC as being a safety, you might want to consider Providence College. How about Holy Cross?

Is Lancaster near Philly?>>

It's about an hour to an hour and a half away, depending on which route you take. Lancaster is a small city and the campus is right in town. Good solid academics, especially strong in the sciences (excellent med school placement)and political science. Students are on the preppy side. Pretty but compact campus.

Other options in PA might include Lafayette, Bucknell, Lehigh, Muhlenberg, Dickinson (the farthest from a city). Based on your stats and educational background, I'd say it would be safe to consider all of them good bets. If you're male, your chances go up at Muhlenberg and Dickinson as they are trying to balance out their male-female ratio. Expect merit money at those two.

I'm sorry, but I agree with WesternMass. Everyone else, get over yourselves. With his stats, he is extremely likely to get into GW and BC. Maybe it's not 100%, and that's why he's applying to two of them. But he'll get into at least one of them. And that's how it works.

Take a look at the facts. My school, GPA, and SAT's give me near perfect chances at those schools- and this has been proven by matriculation from my school in the last 5 years (As stated earlier in the thread).
I'm dissapointed that a few people turned this thread into something that it should not have been. I just wanted to know about other schools similar to GW and BC that I could apply to as well or possibly like even more than my current third tier schools.

Thanks again, though, to Carolyn. I definitely could give the Philly area another look.

Also, thanks to madjoy for understanding the essence of the "Probable" (though maybe not your run-of-the-mill 'Safety') school that is logical for someone in my situation

I'd choose modesty over intelligence any day.

Again, the insults are pathetic. You clearly have run out of legitimate argument

When people challenged my post (and didn't answer my question), such background information was NECESSARY. I apologize if you are offended or made uncomfortable by this

Hey, what do you want to study?

Even if everyone from your school has gotten into your "safeties" over the past 5 years, these schools are getting harder to get into each year. BC's acceptance rate this year was 29% which means it was actually lower than two of your three "matches." Both Tufts and JHU accepted 30% this year. Georgetown's rate was 21% and even GW's was 36%. Here are a few safer bets, just based on this year's acceptance rates:

BU (49%)
Lehigh (38%)
Brandeis (38%)
Rochester (48%)* this is for 2004 since the don't have 2005 #s yet

Thanks for the suggestions, Trevian. This is the type of reply I was hoping for

By the way, I already checked out BU (too big, no centralized campus)
and Brandeis (less impressive looking campus than my current school. I know that sounds pompus and spoiled, but I'd really like to go to a school with a nice campus. I WAS impressed with the admissions office and the intellectual rigor at Brandeis, however)

Cre8tive, likely Bio/Med, but I'm not positive about that

Then definitely check out Lehigh. It was one of the nicest campuses we visited with great Gothic architecture, grassy lawns, trees, etc. Only drawbacks for me were the location and Greek life. Big turn off, but you might be different.

if u r a medicine hopeful then definitely check out the Sophie Davis program. Very hard to get in for ANYONE but with your stats it wouldnt hurt to give it a shot.its not a safety scholl but since u mentioned medicine i thought i would throw it out there.

NY area
safety school perspective
Fordham university
Syracuse university
ST. Lawrence University
Colgate university
Hamilton College

Hope this helps:)

Thanks guys
Lehigh sounds like one that I should definitely take a look at

By the way, I heard that Colgate has a beautiful campus. How close is the nearest city?

Colgate is about aan hour from Syracuse, an give or take 2 hours from Albany and Rochester. If you're willing to go to Colgate, or upstae NEw York for that matter, then I'd opt for University of Rochester. And also take a look at .

My suggestions are Villanova, Carnigie Mellon, & University of Rochester.

AS for liberal arts, Wellesley, if you're qualified, Vassar, Colgate, & WESLEYAN (!)

I know several folks who have entered medical professions who attended Holy Cross in Worcester MA.

Wesleyan for a safety, cre8tiv? now that is just silly....

Don't ask advice if you are certain that the schools you already are listed are safeties. People are questioning you and you seem adament about what you are doing, so do it, and don't listen to us.

What about Emory, Vanderbilt, or similar?

I realize you prefer closer to home but if you are in a main city with a "hub" airport it is not too long a trip as you fly instead of drive.

Agreed :\ BC and GW and definitely easier to get into than Wesleyan.

wesleyan as a safety? oh man you seriously need a better college guide book...
