need recommendations for colleges to apply to

Hi, I am a current High School Senior. I have alright grades and scores. I'm working my best to get higher test scores if I can, if not, ill be fine with the scores I have.

My GPA is around 3.8 my sat is 2050, but I think Ill have better scores soon with the act for sure. I'm on the border of top 2% of my school.

But since I'm asking you guys for college recommendations some more useful info is I'm interested in some branch of engineering for my major, I program alot, and I thrive in intensely academic atmospheres. I attended a summer science program at UF last summer and loved it.

I'm applying to UF and Georgia Institute of Tech but I don't think I would be as happy at Uf as I would be at some other schools I'm applying to like ,Carnegie Mellon, and Some Ivies. I know I'm being very ambitious but I'm not going to miss my chance to attend one of these great schools.

So basically I feel like I have a very good chance of getting into Uf, but I dont really want to go there. And the schools I do want to go to I have a slim chance of getting into. What other colleges do you think I should apply to? and what advice do you have for me.

How about Purdue?

I have never heard of it. Can you elaborate? do you think it would be a good fit for me?

Purdue University.
I think it would be a good fit. Its terrific for engineering programs. Also its a very conducive environment for learning. Check out their website. But decide soon because the priority application deadline is fast approaching (Purdue works on rolling admissions).
It was also highly ranked on the Wall Street Journal Top Recruiters ranking (something along those lines…).

What can your family afford and what is your home state?

Hey Erin’s Dad, I come from a very low income family and already have two sisters in college so for any college I apply to I would be relying heavily on financial aid and scholarships. And Florida is my home state.

If you’re low income why are you applying to GT? You’ll only be eligible for federal aid. In FL you have Bright Futures available. What about FSU?
