Need some advice on picking my path

So i got accepted into the college of Engineering at UMich. I am pretty sure Michigan is where i want to be. But at this current time, I am still undecided whether or not i want to pursue engineering or go pre-med.

Im kinda leaning towards pre-med at the moment.

I figure its easier to transfer from the College of Engineering to LSA than the other way around. Should i try engineering out for a semester and then switch, or should i try to switch during orientation/before the fall semester starts?

If i decide to try engineering out, i guess my real question is would i lose out on valuable time i missed where i could have studied my pre-med sciences?

Also, is it possible for me to pursue the engineering degree and also prepare for the mcat? Do i need a bio or chem related major to be accepted into a med school?

The hard thing for me is that i know i have interests in both fields. I appreciate any advice you guys have.

You can certainly major in engineering and then go to medical school as long as you complete all the required classes for both your major and the medical school. The physics sequence should be covered in any engineering program and then you’ll just have to make sure to take a year of organic chemistry w/ lab, general chemistry w/ lab, and biology w/ lab. What deters people from choosing engineering as an undergrad major is that it’s sometimes considered “hard” and you need to keep your GPA as high as possible. However, majoring in biology or chemistry is no cake walk either, so go with what you’re interested in.
