Need some advice on whether I should try to transfer now or later.

<p>I have 8 classes (American Government, General Chemistry A, Data Structures, Discrete Math, Linear Algebra/Differential Equations, Physics Electricity/Magnetism, Physics Modern, and Calculus 3) left when Fall 2011 semester is over.</p>

<p>I'm wondering if I should try to take as many classes as I can during Spring 2012, probably 6 of those classes, and risk a drop in my g.p.a (currently 3.92). The other option is I stay for a third year and spread out those classes as much as I can and be a part time student, since I can't keep busy with those 8 classes for another year. Any advice is appreciated.</p>

<p>I'm majoring in Computer Science and plan to apply to UCLA, UCSD (Tag) and UCI.</p>

<p>My advice would be to stay at cc for another year. Spread out those required classes and fill in with a Pe/fitness class or some other elective that is interesting to you but not too demanding. If you want to get into UCLA you will need a 3.9 and that will be pretty tough to hang onto taking so many classes. I am an older student and I am planning to transfer to UCD next fall with a TAG. I have been going to cc on and off for many, many, many, years. Look at the big picture. Another year at cc isn’t the end of the world. It would allow you to get all 8 of those taken (or which ever are offered at your cc) which also puts you in a better position to transfer successfully. Hang in there, enjoy your life and take some classes that you would enjoy and just make sure you have 12 units a semester. Also get involved on campus and do some volunteering to pump up your ECs too.</p>

<p>you wouldn’t be waiting another year, but two years (from today) since you enroll fall 2013.</p>

<p>ill be taking 9ish classes to meet the 60 unit requirement. just use ratemyprofessor to weed out the easier instructors you can find. </p>

<p>take a bunch of MCS/sociology classes, some of the online ones are insanely easy and help your GPA.</p>

<p>edit: and if you get rejected just apply again the next fall.</p>

<p>We are in the same boat, except I have organic instead of gen chem. I’m taking E&M, LinAlg, DEqs, Calc 3, and ochem in Spring. I’ll take Modern at a UC if it’s required (I don’t think it is at ucsd or uci), and I’m holding off on discrete math til after I xfer, because there are no good equivalent courses in my area. Same with data structures. Try taking am gov over the winter, since it’s a GE. Lighten your load a bit.</p>

<p>And don’t do modern with E&M. Not worth the stress. A lot of engineering xfers take modern over the summer.</p>

<p>See if you can find a community college w/ a quarter system so you can split up some of your classes (like linear algebra/diff eq, and american govt, maybe online too?)</p>

<p>If you were in Northern California you could go to Foothill College which is quarter system. I LOVE QUARTER SYSTEM! haha</p>
