I choose accounting as my major and will be attending Temple University in the fall. I know I want to do something in the business field when I graduate, but I'm not exactly sure what yet. Initially I choose business management, but I felt that major was too broad and I would have trouble finding a job out of college. I switched to accounting because of the job security and quality pay. In high school I was always just average at math, but I am a hard worker and feel like accounting is a smart major to choose. The only thing drawing me away from accounting is the stereo type that it is very boring. I would appreciate if you guys could give me some insight on accounting and other business majors to help find the right fit for me

No need to decide now. You will have time to take some intro classes in different disciplines (ex. accounting, finance, marketing, information systems etc.) before you have to declare a major.

I have had a number of accounting jobs, public and private. Some were boring; some were not. Accounting is referred to as the language of business. No matter what the business accounting is a necessity. Not only that, accounting gives one the skills needed to analyze situations that come about. For example, I had been called upon to help develop new pricing models for company products so we could better get market share. I have worked on projects and budgeted costs for firms seeking financing of new business and expansion of old. And I have done traditional accounting and tax work. .

An accounting degree is not a millstone. You can get into other lines of business. I know others who majored min accounting and have become loan officers, mortgage bankers, investment analysts, insurance agents, and real estate agents. And today I am in IT as a QA analyst.

Accounting, or even accounting/finace double major is a great field with decent pay and job security.

Finance has less math and it is more interesting. Consider that as a major. Also, it is very much in demand nowadays,of course as is accounting, hope I helped.
