well im a junior and i tok the SAT's in dec and got 720 M / 700 CR / 680 WR / 2100 composite

i was getting like 730+ on the writing section on all my practice tests so i dont know what happened there. when i took my essay grade (9) and my MC score (68), the blue book said my range was 680-800....i gues i really got screwed with the writing curve =(

but i know i can get my writing up to aroiund 750. my question is, how can i raise my math to 800ish. math is my strongest subject in school (with science) by far. i cna solve all the problems in the books but i always make those damn stupid mistakes. ive read a few strategies but i would still like the opinions of a few more people. i know i can get 800 math if a really try hard and seeing as the test is april 1, i am going to try damn hard. im actually happy wiht my CR, seeing as i was getting 600's on that on my practice tests, so meh ill not push too hard to raise that.

but i NEED to raise math and writing for a total score gain of minimum 100 points, optimal 150-200 points. any suggestions?

You do well in math, obviously.

Speed through math, doing only sparse checking.

Then spend the extra time checking your answers.

You will isolate the stupid mistakes that force a vast pool of high scorers into the 720 area.

Then you'll do well.

Well, it's more complicated, but I'm in the same boat for the 4/1 test.

68 mc and 9 on the essay is 680 most of the time for writing. You did not get "screwed".

yo...same problem here
i even got like 6 questions right on AIME
but on SAT i only had a 720....
i sort of recognize my problem with math--carelessness, but its really really hard to try to fix carelessness, especially under great stress.
...i am so frustrtated now since i ve gotta another one coming up on april 1st

You'll do so much better if you relax.

yes, follow previous post's advice. go through, then come back and check your work. the very first time i went back and checked my work on a test, instead of putting my head down (i used to be soo stupid lol), my math score went up by 3 (on the ACT, it is the equiv. of about 70 SAT points.)
