Tommorow April 12th at 6pm is the last day in my College to withdraw from a class with it having no effect on your gpa. My major currently is Finance. Current Gpa is 3.77 for 54 credits.
Should I withdraw and retake or stick it out.

I am in a Intro to Finance class. I blanked out on my first exam got a 60. Took my second exam on Friday and got a 96. The highest I can get is a B-B+ in this class now and I will need a 95 on the final, which is not at all an easy task.

I am waiting to hear from Cornell. If I get in and stay in this class my GPA will get reset.
If I dont get in and withdraw the W stays on my transcript DOES NOT EFFECT my GPA, but looks bad for Grad school application.

If I keep it and get a C in the class then my Baruch GPA goes from a 3.66 to a 3.63. If i withdraw my gpa shoots up to a 3.715 with a W on my transcript.

Do you think you can get that 95 without putting so much effort into the class that your other classes suffer?
At the same time finance is your major so withdrawing might put you behind, which to me would be more concerning than the W on a transcript

Okay so it really depends what year you are. If you’re a freshman, a W or 2 will not look bad to grad school committees. Hell, even if you’re a sophomore, it won’t hurt you very much at all. Take the W if you feel uncomfortable or at risk of your GPA dropping by a decent amount.

im a sophmore, i am like 9 credits ahead
i will not be put behind in my major
but to get a 95 on the final will be ridiculous
but retaking the class doesnt assure me anything
W this semester on a cornell transfer app doesnt look good

I don’t know much about Ws - but one W with a 3.7 doesn’t seem too bad to me. Especially since you aren’t failing the course & its not a WF… Of course if you get in somewhere like you said your GPA will get reset, but a W will remain on your transcript…

Have you talked to an advisor or even a jr/sr in the major about this? I feel like they would be best suited to help with this.

I think everyone has that one class they struggle with and sometimes it is the smartest thing to just drop it…unless you think you can pull the grade up.
