Hi to all ,
I am an International student from India , and I have just given SAT I on Nov 1 ( yesterday ) . I still have to select colleges to send my official SAT score . I am planning on an International Business major . Pls suggest some good univ or colleges ; I can afford the tuition around $15000 to $23000 . Financial Aid is preferable . I am expecting my SAT score to be around 1950 - 2050 , with CR to be 680 , maths to be - 720 and Writing to be - 600 .
Pls suggest urgently bcoz I have till 10 Nov , to update my score recipients in my SAT profile on collegeboard . And if pls also tell me about colleges and univ. in Texas .

Any1 Please help me decide !!!!

According to U.S.News, these are the top International Business programs in the country:
South Carolina
Penn
NYU
Michigan
Southern Cal
Texas
Cal-Berkeley
Georgetown
Washington
Temple

Penn, Berkeley, and Georgetown (and perhaps, Southern Cal) would require very high test scores, but a 2000 SAT should be pretty competitive for the others.

Is there something special about you that would warrant passing over a more highly qualified American student with the same need--of which there will probably be many at the schools listed?

I think the University of Texas at Austin will be a reach. This fall's entering class was composed of 81% "top 10%" grads of Texas public high schools who are essentially guaranteed admission per state law. That means only 19% of the admissions pool is available to Texans who are not in the top 10%, Texans who attend private schools, OOS applicants and international students. It's very competitive.

And there are "sub-pools" within that 19%. International is one, e.g., consider this statement from UT's website:

-International applicants compete with each other for a limited number of international student spaces, rather than against all other freshman applicants (International students who qualify as Texas residents are an exception). Admission for international freshmen can be highly competitive.

-See the International Freshman Applicants page to be sure you complete all the necessary application requirements, including the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) requirement if necessary.

University of Texas at Austin - Office of Admissions

Note, if you are not admitted to UT-Austin, you may be given an alternative offer of admittance to begin in the summer or start at other UT campuses around the state where you will have to earn grades sufficient to make you eligible for later transfer to UT-Austin.

Good luck!

Actually, I'd think that being an international would make you especially attractive to admissions committees for International Business majors.

Perhaps, gadad, but a number of the schools on the list are publics, which have as their mission primarily educating residents of their state. The others certainly take some international students, but they are American colleges and as such reserve the majority of their slots and the majority of their FA for American students. (Just as universities in other nations reserve their resources for residents. Certainly Americans who get into British universities are expected to pay their own way.) The OP does not seem to have the kind of outstanding credentials that would make him a strong candidate for the few international spots at most top programs.

If being an international made such candidates particularly attractive to international business programs, and if they were willing to give large amounts of FA to such candidates, I'd wager that all of the listed programs could fill their classes with students from India and Singapore and Korea and China with higher stats than the OP. In about a day.

Thank you for all your responses . Will it do me good if I take SAT II subjest tests , I will definitely miss the most of the admission deadlines of top univ. and does UT Austin provides FA to international students.

You need to check and see if the schools you are interested in want SATIIs. Generally, the most selective schools do.

You should also check and see if the schools want you to take TOEFL.

no univ provides FA (federal aid) to international students. FA is meant for US nationals.

Does univ of texas at austin provides Financial aid to international students , I have checked their site and found nothing .

they don't.

Hey spidey , so which univ are applying for ?

dartmouth, mit, yale, princeton, colgate, duke, suny plattsburgh as of now. Unsure about the rest.

Spidey, some schools do provide FA to internationals. Presumably, private schools.

technically, Federal aid is given to US citizens right?

FA just means financial aid, not "Federal" aid. Yes, I would assume that federal loans such as the Stafford are reserved for citizens.
