This one is certainly worth a read: [William & Mary - Uncyclopedia, the content-free encyclopedia](http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/William_%26_Mary)
:D

Frankur, we are in the same boat, except it is W&M and UVA. I told my son that tonight is decision night:). He has visited both schools (for multi-day overnights), sat in on classes at W&M, taken three UVA courses, and he is still undecided. I have been told we are lucky that he has two such fine choices, and we are grateful. The truth is, whatever he decides will leave him happy and sad. He loves both places very much and feels at home at both. He truly is torn.

We appreciate our state schools very much and glad that he will likely have a fabulous experience no matter where he attends!

My D finally picked W&M over UVA last night.

I think it ultimately came down to where she felt she would fit in the best.

She likes the size and academic reputation of W&M, and likes to have fun, but is not into partying.

For those of you have yet to decide, good luck with your decision, and wherever you end up going, make the most of it!

My book club has two UVa grads and two W&M grads in it. They’re still smarter and we’re still cuter! :)

teehee.

But seriously, congratulations to both your children, olduvagrad and helidad2015! as for your son, olduvagrad, I’m sure you know that with either choice, he’ll end up feeling like the made the right one regardless. Please let us know!

@@ javabytes, post 21 -thanks for posting the link! It’s so funny - I hope everyone on this thread will read it. My favorite is W&M’s motto: Nequeo, mihi studendum est (I can’t, I need to study). I cracked up reading W&M’s famous traditions, too, including: “Streaking the Sunken Gardens late at night; Playing Ultimate Frisbee on the Sunken Gardens late at night in order to see streakers.”

A fun read. :D

HeliDad, so glad to hear your D picked the Tribe!

frankur, do let your D know that we certainly understand the anxiety that comes with being far away from home. Just know that W&M is in no way a suitcase campus so she will not feel like other students are going home all the time when she can’t. And we have students from 48 states and 54 countries so there will be tons of other students like her who are a good distance from home. Good news is W&M students quickly start to refer to campus as home!

Well, UVaHoo87, my son, at long last has reached a decision. He has decided to go to UVA:). We are pleased, but also sad as we know that W&M would also have been a fine choice and also a good fit.

W&M, we really appreciate all your advice and support over these months. And, I will be visiting here often; my daughter will be a senior next year, and W&M is her top choice. She has visited many times over the years and again recently with her brother, and cannot imagine herself anywhere else. I hope it works out for her. She is very liberal arts oriented and W&M would be a good match for her as well.

Good luck to everyone! It’s been a long, exciting and sometimes stressful year. And now, the application process begins anew for our family!

While we are sorry to lose your son we wish him all the best at UVA and look forward to working with your daughter and family in the coming year as she goes through the application process.

My favorite quote from the student review site (a few years ago) was that the kids at W&M work so hard during the week that they are thrilled when Friday afternoon rolls around:
Oh, good, a weekend! No classes! I can study without interruption!

My friend’s son is accepted at W&M and thrilled and sent in his deposit. Great school. I’ll have to let him know about the streaking in the sunken gardens.

The decision was Lafayette after spending a few hours there yesterday afternoon just ‘hanging out’. She really struggled with saying no to Willam and Mary and loves the place, but couldn’t overcome the distance from home leaving her feeling unsettled and anxious. Lucky she had two great choices!

Congrats to all the new Tribe members, and also to frankur’s d for choosing another great school! Wishing you all luck and happiness.

lookingforward, that’s an amauing tongue-in-cheek quote but likely quite overblown. We would call our students work-hard, play-hard. They value both the academic and social aspects of their collegiate experience and know when it’s appropriate to be engaging in which. Studying and learning is certainly an important priority among our students but they also see learning as fun. Being challenged academically and growing intellectually is something they value. They also love kicking back and hanging out with friends, going to parties, concerts, etc. With over 400 student clubs, Greek life, 23 DI sports, etc. it’s hard to envision students studying all the time.
