Negotiating Scholarships?

How does one go about negotiating scholarships?

There have been many threads on this topic. Try a search.

Most schools do not "negotiate". It depends on too many factors to give you a concrete answer. For example:

IF you are getting need based FA, you can request a financial review and use the other school's package for comparison. You have to also compare apples to apples; for example if school "A" gave you $$ based on FA need, while school "B" gave you merit $ there will me no FA review to consider.

Even between 2 schools that both give merit, one may require a higher threshold in order to get a certain amount of merit money, so that may not be a factor in asking for more.

If you recieved a package where you are an instate resident, and you have another package from a public school where you are an out of state resident, there will really be no room for a FA review.

If you are trying to compare schools, that are not peer schools or overlap in their student applications (meaning the student who applies to college "A" will most likely also apply to college "B") there is really not much room for a review.
