So... I'm a nerd. The problem is that sometimes people get annoyed and exclude/insult me because of it. What sucks is that I don't even "do anything." I never show people my grades, I never talk about any of that type of stuff. I, too, would get annoyed if someone was a show-off. But I'm not. A lot of times it's really frustrating because I feel like I have to sell out to "fit in."

Ugh... luckily I'm going to a high school with other nerds...

Def, I'm more of an eccentric nerd, so I really don't mind being goofy and everyone in school knew me for just being strange yet strangely likeable. Plus, how many nerds do you know make it onto the prom court, thus nerds 1, jocks 0 ;)

Well i guess I'm half nerd. I have two sides to me but I love who I am. There's always going to be those nerd haters but it's alright I'll get over it! Anyway, I also go to a school with nerds which is fun! Haha.

I do have good friends, but still, there are kids who are being mean about it. When I'm with my real friends, they practically never fuss about academics. It's never an issue. But lately I've had to work with these other kids who... make it a point to bring up my grades all the time, which I don't understand. Oh well, I don't care? Yeah I don't. I won't be going to school with them anyways.

I'm a nerd but I don't get fantastic grades. I'm ussually just one of the higher scorers in a class. I think i just give people the impression of nerdiness b/c I'm Indian, and I joke about me being nerdy,

Even though I have a 4.0 GPA in all honors classes, I'm not considered a "nerd" because I play on 4 sports teams and I don't show off my grades 24/7.

I hate the nerds at my school. They act like they're unprepared for a test and get a 100%. They talk about grades way too much. It's annoying.

Arghh! me too!!! I have couple of nerd friends - I make effort to be nice to the loner nerds because they're such outsiders and i feel sorry for them.
But once you befriend the loner-nerds they become so clingy. And the problem I have with them is that, since we share 1 common interest (a class we are both in), they find that as our 'link' and that is ALL THEY EVER TALK ABOUT: maths tests, chem tests, how worried they are for their results to come out, college apps, etc...
And then after they get their 100%, they all act surprised and pretend to be have not studied since 'not-studying' is supposed to be 'cool' and they try really hard to fit-in.

LOL @ surge. I'm a nerd but I still have friends that are not nerds or who even get. I just only talk about academics with my nerdy friends. I try to do other things besides studying and schoolwork. Its all about moderation. And hobofromdowntown it isn't third tier dump, its third tier toilet, also known as a TTT..lol

i don't like 'nerds' because they're not interesting. my best friends is like a genius and gets good grades, etc. but she is one of the coolest people i know and still goes to parties, has better social skills than most, is a captain on 2 sports teams, etc. do i consider her a "nerd" just because she gets good grades and is really smart? no because she has outside interests and is just cool all around.

i have no problem with smart people who get good grades (it'd kind of suck if i did because everyone at my school is smart). i do have a problem (well not a problem but more like i have no interest in being around) people who only go to school, only care about studying and grades, are socially inept, don't exercise, etc

nerds don't have to be smart or get good grades to be considered nerds. I get horrible grades and my SAT sucks (1830)not 1700 but everyone in the school knows me as: The Doctor.. I don't get it. I suck at school but everyone thinks I'm a nerd.

I don't necessarily hate nerds, I just hate they're actions at times. I go to an IB school but we don't have that many nerdy people. We mostly have overachievers and slcakers who get good grades, I'm a slacker, lol. My point is that the nerd always seems to remeber everything, example, teacher forgets theres a test but ofcourse the nerd won't forget, he'll actually remind her.

Also I just don't like talking to people who are quiet, it irritates me when I talk to people and they give me one word answers, or an answer that I don't even understand. And if they do talk, they talk to much or about things that no one cares about.

I just think nerds are happy being the top of there classes, and playing those stupid video games, so I just let them be.

"teacher forgets theres a test but ofcourse the nerd won't forget, he'll actually remind her."

yeah that doesnt really happen at my school but similarly, if there's a debatable question on a test and a decent amount of the class gets it wrong, usually the teacher will at least hear us out and sometimes give us the points. but in my history class there was this girl that (if she put the answer that was supposedly right) would like argue against our case instead of just keeping her mouth shut. it's not like her points were going to get taken away, she just didnt want anyone else to get the points.

now that might be more of a b***** thing to do than a nerd thing but she's a nerd and generally that's the type of thing they do at my school.

but the good thing about my school is that basically everyone is of at least above-average intelligence so the only way you'll be considered a nerd is if you are socially inept, don't participate in sports or other non-academic activities, etc
