im kinda lanky...kinda nerdy...but i think that the naval academy would be a good fit for what i want in college and afterwards...i was just wondering would i stick out like a sore thumb because im lanky and not super muscular like 90 percent of the ppl there....its just a question

^^^
I think many of the current “super muscular” mids were once lanky nerds that have magically transformed after a year or two of exercise.

i wasnt looking for a smart ass answer…thanks anyway

^^
I was being absolutely serious and you are welcome.

so to answer my question about me not belonging you would say???

If you can get in you will fit in. The following thread may help:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/service-academy-parents/939283-can-geeky-non-athletic-types-survive-military-academies.html

In addition to reading through the above post, I would suggest going to the academy if at all possible and having a look for yourself. Take a tour. Walk the yard. Stop midshipmen and ask them questions. See if you see anyone that looks like “you.” You might be surprised to see just how much PHYSICAL diversity there really is.

If you are still eligable to attend NASS, apply for that.

personally, would not let lanky and nerdy get in the way- mother nature has a way of changing all of that with time!

This is the description of one of my kid’s high school classmates. Lanky, nerdy.
He did fabulous at USNA. He graduated from USNA in 2009 and went to MIT.

No worries, you’ll make an excellent addition to the submarine force. In all seriousness though, you’ll notice there’s a lot more lanky mids than you think, it should be a non factor as long as you excel in your lanky skills like running.

Be fully confident …the Brigade is home to many nerdish homies.

Do you think it was Ex-Mid Curry who figured out how to get the Dixie Cup on top of the Chapel pinnacle w/ a remote control flying robot!

But even nerds gotta be able to swim, box, run, do their push-ups, shoot straight, and become a contributing and respected teammate on one of the grandest fraternities in the entire history of the world. Not a place for loners.

GO NAVY!

My newest plebe sponsor son (just sworn in today) is very slight, very nerdy, and the son of a 2star Admiral Navy Seal. Who himself was not all that muscular when he started USNA many years ago either. You will become an Officer, that is what is important. They come in all shapes and sizes.
