Nervous about Application Strength...

I haven't gotten a Triple Qualified letter either--I think I read somewhere else on here that that letter might not come till January. I think you have to have received a nomination to get the letter, as well as be triple qualified.

I don't recall ever getting a "Triple Qualified" letter from anyone. I was initially accepted with a 1210 SAT before raising it 200 points after I had my appointment. I was nervous that 1210 was not qualified along with my weak CFA and a lot of B's in a non-rigorous high school.

The best thing I would do is to get ahold of your Blue and Gold Officer and ask him if he/she thinks you are triple qualified. My B+G reassured me that I was in fact 3Q'd and all I could do was to wait. Perhaps getting in contact and asking your B+G officer to evaluate your file would be the best thing to do right now just so you have an idea about fallbacks that you could take.

The only thing that scares me about your file is the 650 math SAT, but given everything else, I would say you're in decent standing right now since you have everything done.

No, triple Q has nothing to do with the MOC nomination process. It simply means you are medically, physically, and "scholastically" (which is more than academics ... it's whole person scoring, I believe) qualified. And one cannot get an appointment in the absence of being triple Qed (altho my understanding is that not all who receive an appointment receive the official letter indicating they've been Triple Qed). Last season my Mid was triple Qed in early Oct, went to CVW in Oct (which really has little/nothing to do with triple Qed ... simply indicates the USNA sees you as an attractive prospect who MAY get an appointment and they want you to have chance to see USNA up close and personal, but not so much of them looking at you up close and personal ... altho some Mids, but not all, are required to submit a report on their CVW "drag" which then goes into one's file), nom last week of Nov, and USNA appointment the following week, with letter from the Academy the following week (Dec. 15). What a few weeks! Few like those few! Whew!!

Good luck to all ...

My Mid received his appointment with never receiving a triple Qed letter. Got the scholastically qualified letter but never the triple Qed one.

The Naval Academy doesn't send out tripke-Q letters. However, candidates do receive LOAs and/or letters stating that they are scholastically qualified to compete for an appointment. Medical status reports are sent directly to the candiadtes by DODMERB.

Hello . I have a few questions and this looks like the place to ask them.

At what point should a candidate become concerned if they have not received a letter informing them that they are scholastically qualified?

Are candidates informed if their CFA is not adequate? Is the Blue and Gold officer informed if a CFA is not adequate?

Are candidates invited to a CVW without their application having been reviewed by the admissions board?

Should a candidate with a strong academic record and high ACT scores be concerned that their application has not yet been reviewed by the admissions board? Could a marginal CFA prevent their application from being reviewed?

Thanks.

Don't worry about not hearing anything yet. It is still very early in the admissions process.

Re: the CFA scores.

I was told last year by one of the Regional Directors for Admissions that, no, they don't necessarily tell you whether you've passed the CFA or not. You have to ask, and I would recommend that you do. Even us BGO's are not told in the CIS (Candidate Information System) whether you've passed; only that a score has been submitted. I'd suggest that you get your BGO to ask for you, or drop a note to Candidate Guidance and ask yourself if you want to know.

In fact, my son, who is now a Plebe, had not passed the CFA during summer seminar - or at least his score did not show that he had passed. After I asked and was told that he had no passing score, he retook it right away and nearly maxed it. He received an appointment shortly after that.

Dad&Grad- In an e-mail sent to me from my BGO, he said, "The information I have says you passed." How would he know if he hadn't sent out a request?

My s knows he passed medical physical & CFA, how does he know if he's triple qualified... from NJ? Already completed all interviews... just waiting...

^^^^^
He will need to receive a letter from the Admissions Office stating that he is scholastically qualified to compete for an appointment.

I am also from NJ and I haven't received a letter saying that I am Academically Qualified.

rally_crew, have you heard back from any of the Senators regarding a nomination?
