I'm worried about NASS...

I hope I'm not alone on this, but I havn't recieved an acceptance letter from NASS yet...would they notify me if I wasn't accepted? Anyway..thanks for your input!

-David

You aren't alone. Many are still awaiting word.

Don't get worried until mid April...you still have plenty of time to hear.

They will tell you if you were rejected to NASS just like they do for appointments

Hey- Yeah don't worry about it. Honestly, my parents were just asking my at dinner if I had heard about it and it was kindda making me uneasy that I haven't heard either. It sounds like most people are in the same boat. I hope I get in! haha hope to see you guys there

yea im worried as well, eeeek

Don't worry about it. People have said over an over that most letters come in mid april. It's not yet time to even feel concern.

I know I've said this before, but it really can't be said enough. NASS is a great program, and if you get in, more power to you. Take advantage of the opportunity to see what the Academy is all about. Soak it all in. Many people return knowing in their heart that USNA is the only place for them...while others come back never wanting to return. From what I recall, only about a quarter of NASS participants accept appointments.

Don't be discouraged at all if you don't get into NASS. Many mids have been appointed without ever attending NASS or a CVW, and many who attend both get denied admission.

Just remember that there are many more opportunities to show the Academy that they need you as a member of the brigade. Write an awesome essay. Kick ass on your CFA. Smile and have fun at your interview. Get to know your BGO and keep in contact with him/her on a regular basis. NASS in no way determines your competitiveness. It's merely a single checkbox on your BGO's interview form.

That being said, DON'T SLACK SENIOR YEAR. I really believe 1st semester senior year can make or break your application if you don't yet have an LOA.

Stop worrying...if you go, you go...if not, you'll just be more determined than ever to show the Academy what you're all about.

To reinforce what everyone else has said, DON"T WORRY.
I didn't find out till the end of March.

I know it's hard, but try not to think about it. Become absorbed in your studies (6th and 7th semesters of high school are the MOST important). Good luck guys.

I think that my son didn't find out until April. He got in to NASS and received an appointment. No LOA. SAT scores were nothing to brag about. Had great grades, took Calculus at community college immediately after NASS. At end of Junior year, he just complete Alg. 2.and also applied to NROTC in May of the Junior year.

Just work hard, academically/physically and be involved in your school and community and you will all be great candidates. Also, be fairly aggresive in the application process. That seemed to help Jake.

Good luck but also try to enjoy your Junior year!

I havne't heard either... what session did you want? I heard firstas the least competitive because a lot of schools aren't out yet and that was the only one I could do. Everyone keeps asking me and I keep telling them no. Ugh. This blows.

My daughter recieved her NASS acceptance today! HOORAH! GO NAVY!

yipeee to momtolola2011....may this be the beginning of the journey towards your reporting in next year that she has an appointment to USNA!

congradulations mom2lola2011, NASS was a lot of fun. Welcome to the beginning of a very very long process to hopefully becoming USNA class of 2011.

VERY LONG process!!!

Congrats!!! THat will be prob the most fun and best part of her summer...It was for me!!!

Do they send an email as well as a snail mail letter to notify of acceptance? Do they send a 'thanks, but no thanks' letter -- if you are not accepted to NASS?

I didn't get an email. I knew that it was an acceptance because it was thick and I figured that rejection letters would be sent in April...
