I transferred to a new school in Fall 2006 and had a roommate but we didn't get along each other and so I requested a room change. So now I have been assigned a single room but in a new dorm. I am so nervous because I don't know anyone living there and it's not like I am a freshman so I don't think many people are in the same position as me. Last semester I hung out with people on my floor but I didn't really make any close friends, and so now I am just scared about starting over and feeling lonely again.

Any advice?

thanks

Leave your door open when you are just hanging out in your room. Drop by and say hi to the people on your floor. How did you make friends before? How does anyone do it at any point in their life? It starts by talking to people. It may take more effort on your part than it did last semester.

Make an effort to see the people you hung out with in your old dorm. They won't come looking for you if you just...disappear. Tell them where you're going and urge them to come visit. You also shouldn't be shy about going back to visit them.
