My notre dame application keeps me up at night. I can't stop thinking about what I should have wrote or not wrote in that optional essay portion. (does it hurt not to write anything at all?). Anyway, I can't help but feel nervous about my application. Alas, i guess i'll know on December 15. Anyone else have butterflies in their stomach?

Don't worry, what you are feeling is normal and it is what pretty much all of us either are going through or (in my case) have gone through. Try to relax about it and just know that what will be will be. If you didn't have anything to write in the optional section, then you didn't have anything, and I don't think it will hurt you. You have done the work and it is all in and now you have to wait, and I know that is the hardest part. Yet, the hard part is done, you have done everything to the best of your ability. What will be will be but there is no reason to make yourself sick over it. Try as well as you can to just relax and to enjoy life and not think about it. I am sure you presented yourself in a strong manner and your work will be apparent in your application.

It is just hard for some, I know it was for me, because you keep working for something knowing that your work is going to make a difference and then suddenly you hit a point where there is nothing to be done and you almost don't know what to do. Just try to relax if you can and keep working hard just because you may still be able to improve your chances. if you are deferred, then they will want your fall grades so keep working hard in school and keep your grades up! Good luck!

Thanks for that advice. You're so right about getting to a point where you can do nothing. I guess I'm just gonna try and forget about it for now, and get on with life. Thanks again

I feel the exact same way. I can't wait until December! What is the earliest anybody knows of anyone hearing a decision?

know whats a good way to keep your mind off of it? posts!!!

I think it's important to remember, too, that you will be successful and have a great experience in college even if you don't go to Notre Dame - people all over the country are doing it :)

Notre Dame is a great experience, but to put this much weight on it is like saying this is the only possible road that will work for you, which is patently untrue. You have to believe in you, not just in you at ND, if you get my meaning. Lots of schools are great, fun, and beautiful. You will do well no matter where you go. It's good to have a first choice, as long as you are aware that your second and third and fourth choices are also good places for you.
