We just watched Diana. I was very skeptical (not a royal family fan), but found it engaging and very accurate at evoking the times.
There wasn’t a single song that one would leave the theater humming. They were good but didn’t advance the narrative.
What did you think?
I liked it, And I loved the quick costume changes. It usually takes me a while to like songs enough to hum them so that’s OK. I don’t think it told us anything about her that wasn’t already public knowledge.
I have not watched it yet, but did see the original version of the musical when it was premiered here at The La Jolla Playhouse. I hope they have made a lot of improvements since that version of the show which was not very good at all. I love theatre (especially musical theatre), but it was just not good.
Did any of you see the review in The New York Times? Jesse Green did not hold back, my husband said he wants to see it just to see if it is really as terrible as described.
