I'm applying to both of these schools and I wanted to know which school has a better bio or neuro program. I know neuro is a concentration at Colby and a major at Bates, so that may be an unfair comparison. But, in general which college has a stronger program? Both are very similar schools, but Colby has more money and nicer facilities. Let me know what you all think please.

This may not be a well worded question, since it has not responses. What i mean to say is, overall which school has a better natural science program. I’m interested in Neuroscience but would like to take classes in a plethora of the various sciences. Thank you all very much.

I think you may be lacking responses because current students have no idea what classes are like at the others’ school.

What I can say that the sciences are very well regarded here at Colby (being an Econ major, the intro Bio courses I took as a freshmen remain some of the best taught in my experience thus far) and that my roommate, who is a Neurobio Major (I think of concentrations as pretty much the same as an outright major), enjoys his classes in both the Biology and Psychology departments.

Thinker88 - thanks for the response. Good point, im sure both schools have solid bio/neuro programs. Was just wondering how they may compare. Thanks!

One way to compare the departments is to look at the college catalogs for each school and check the number of faculty and the number of courses available at both schools. Check out the faculty to see if anyone is doing research that intrigues you. Find out how many students are in the neuro major/concentration. You might also want to check whether every class is offered every semester, annually or in alternating years.
