I am very interested in the research related to the relatively new, cross-disciplinary field of Neuro-linguistics and 2nd and 3rd language acquisition. I don't know what major would be best as an undergrad degree. I don't want to specialize too soon before graduate school. Currently I am a declared double major in Biology and French. If I am looking at neuroscientific and linguistic research, would it be better to have a PDBio (Physiology and Developmental Biology) with an emphasis in neuroscience, or could I keep the Biology major and be okay? Also, as far as the linguistics part goes, if I continue to keep the French major (includes some linguistics-related courses) and take some introductory courses to other languages, is that enough of a background? I have heard that it doesn't matter too much what my undergraduate degree is as long as it's related to the subject and I get enough experience, but I don't want to be trying to apply to a graduate program in neuroscience and not have the prior knowledge I need because my BS in Biology was too general and I never had a good neuroscience course. Any advice, opinion, experience, etc. is welcome and helpful to me.
