Neuroscience vs Biology Major

I was wondering what would be a better option in regards to going to medical school (I know your GPA and MCAT scores are the main part). I am going to a California community college for one year, working very hard with 60 semester hours, and then planning to transfer to UCLA.

I have heard that neuroscience majors have more of an independent study and research in regards to neurology, and I want to specialize in neurosurgery, so would picking my major as that more beneficial?

Neuroscience ≠ neurology. Neuroscience ≠ neurosurgery.

Your undergrad major has ZERO bearing whatsoever on what specialty you eventually pursue. Major in whatever you like.

Neurosurgery is among the most competitive of all specialties. If you only want to to do neurosurgery and would not be happy as a primary care/family medicine physician, then you should not plan on going to medical school.

At UCLA, a neuroscience major is required to do a capstone project and one of the 3 options for fulfilling this requirement is a independent research project. Bio majors can also do independent research projects.

Literally no difference

D was a neuroscience major in her UG. For what I can see, at the UG level, the difference between the two majors are few classes that neuroscience majors have to take. They are mostly basic/introductory classes in neuroscience, any in depth study require more advanced degree with deeper concentration. In the view of med school, both majors are the same.
